The song looks at the catch 22 of what it means to be ambitious in trying to fulfill our personal definition of the American Dream. The push and pull we go through in our need to be successful as well as the resulting pain we experience when we don’t achieve the unattainable goals we put in front of us. At the end of the day, we still pick ourselves up and throw our bodies into the meat grinder everyday just for a shot to have everything or lose our soul in the process. We’re all afraid of getting old and becoming outdated, but we can’t let that fear stop us from trying.
